Yesnaby Cliffs, Sandwick.

Yesnaby cliffs on the west coast of Orkney mainland, old red sandstone cliffs with blowholes, geos  and frequent boiling seas at this time of year are dramatic and spectacular.

Skara Brae is a stone built Neolithic settlement, located on the bay of Skaill on the west coast of Orkney, older than Stonehenge and the great Pyramids. Skara brae was discovered after a massive storm in 1850. The wind was that strong that the sand, earth and plants that had been covering the ancient houses for hundreds of years were blown away to reveal the outlines of a settlement.  Skara Brae is one of Britain's most fascinating prehistoric villages, Archaeologists estimate it was built and occupied between 3000BCE  and 25000BCE.
