Nestled in the heart of Kirkwall (the capital of Orkney) is our lovely 2-bedroom cottage
Earl Thorfinn Cottage is situated a 5-minute walk to the town centre but still in a quiet little area with parking. Features one double bedroom and a twin bedroom, kitchen and living room with a cream leather corner sofa and oak furniture, and a newly fitted shower room/ bathroom. There are a large variety of coffee shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants nearby and it's only a few minutes’ walk to “William Shearer’s” which offers a huge variety of whole foods, locally baked bread, cakes, milk and fresh “Orkney” fish and meat.
Excellently located in the centre of Kirkwall, which is the largest town situated in the heart of the Orkney mainland and therefore a fantastic base from which to explore St Magnus Cathedral, Earls Palace, Scapa beach, Highland Park and Scapa Whisky Distillery and also for heading out West to Stromness to the Neolithic Sites, Skara Brae, Masehowe, Standing Stones of Stenness or to the East Mainland of Orkney to the Italian Chapel, Churchill Barriers from the WW2 and lots more.
Also with regular boat trips daily from Kirkwall harbour to the outer isles of Orkney, you can explore places such as; Westray, Papa Westry, Eday, Stronsay, Wyre, Shapinsay, Rousay and more.

Earl Thorfinn cottage is less than 10 minutes’ drive away from the Northlink Ferry terminal in Kirkwall and the airport.
Huge variety of coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes that offer a variety of Orkney produce on their menu.
Earl Thorfinn cottage is a 10-minute walk to the bus station and Kirkwall tourist information centre.
Nearest grocery shop is only a 5 min walk down the road to William Shearer on Victoria Street with a large variety of whole foods, local baked bread, cakes, milk and fresh Orkney meat and fish.
The Northlink Ferry 'M.V Hrossey and the M.V Hjaltland ' comes up from Aberdeen and down from Shetland daily and docks in Kirkwall
Orkney has fantastic walks and cycle routes from right outside your front Door (cycle hire available nearby)
