Memorable monuments

Did you know that Orkney has the most Northerly whiskey distillery?

The 200-year-old “Highland Park” and “Scapa Distiller” is one of the very best in Scotland.

Pay them a visit and sample a dram of this particularly fine single malt when you have finished your tour.

It is also worth visiting the St Magnus Cathedral that was commissioned in 1137, it is the finest medieval building in northern Scotland.

Make sure to also visit Rackwick and hike up the hill to see the “Old Man of Hoy” that, standing at 137m, is Europe’s tallest sea stack. If that’s not enough to satisfy you, there are lots of beautiful walks from right outside your doorstep, or meander round the shore to The Black Craig and the spectacular Yesnaby cliffs.
